SMART goals in the family

The SMART goal-setting framework, originally developed for organizational performance management, has transcended its corporate origins and is widely used in various areas of life, including setting family goals. It might sound a bit "too" structured at first, and you may not imagine presenting it in these exact terms during a family conversation, but rather, let's show what it actually means in terms of goals:

    • Specific goals: The SMART goal-setting helps articulate specific and clear goals to strive for. For example, instead of just saying, "I want to draw better," they can formulate the goal as "I want to learn how to draw flowers and animals."
    • Measurable outcomes: SMART goal-setting helps identify measurable outcomes to track progress and evaluate success. For instance, if their goal is to improve their writing skills, there could be measurable points like "correctly write at least ten words in homework assignments within three weeks."
