Many parents believe that afternoon naps make it harder for children to sleep at night, but the opposite is actually true. Until the age of 5-6, children who regularly nap in the afternoon are able to concentrate for longer periods and are less irritable than their peers who skip the afternoon nap. Around this age, children naturally outgrow the need for afternoon naps, and although they no longer need to sleep, we recommend introducing structured quiet time instead, which helps to calm the nervous system. This time can be spent reading, looking at books, doing puzzles, or engaging in any non-active activity that can be done quietly. It's important to avoid screen time during quiet time!
