Mastering Feedback

    In addition to motivation and recognition, we also dedicate a separate chapter to feedback, even though all three are closely related areas, it is still worthwhile to address them individually.

    Motivation, recognition, and feedback are all important tools in reinforcing positive behavior and promoting development. Although these are interconnected and influence each other, there are some differences between them:

    • Motivation: This encourages children to take action or change their behavior or actions. As discussed, this can be both external and internal motivation.
    • Recognition: Recognition is the positive feedback of results or efforts, which reinforces the individual's worth and accomplishments. This can be verbal or non-verbal feedback, helping the individual understand that they are valuable and significant.
    • Feedback: Feedback is the process of receiving information about how our actions or behaviors affect others or the outcomes. This can be positive or constructive feedback, helping assess progress and make changes as needed.
